Krissy Gordon has had vocal comparisons to Charlotte Church, Sheena Easton, Joan Baez and 80s R&B legend, Teena Marie, but music executives everywhere are quickly realizing that Krissy is creating a legacy that is second to none.
Nominated as Best Vocalist Of The Month by veteran music publisher/A&R exec Dale Kawashima, President of Michael Jacksons ATV Music, and Sony and Motown executives, Indieheaven's Momentum Award Female Vocalist and Inspirational Artist of the Year nominee
Krissy Gordon makes her triumphant debut with her 5-song EP of original music,
WINDOWS TO THE SOUL, recorded with two-time Grammy award-winning producer, Glenn Tabor.
Krissy's gospel roots became the foundation of her career singing as a child in the church choir. "I grew up in the church and have been writing lyrics and singing solos since I was 8 years old. In 1998, I wrote my first Christian song, and eight years later, I recorded my first album. Now she is displaying her wonderful voice with a powerful collection of inspirational songs, including the first song "The Answer," a reflection of Jesus sacrifice with the theme no greater love than he who lays down his life for his friend. "I was on a bus to Boston and was reflecting on the Lord outstretched between the two thieves. The song played through my head, lyrics and melody, which asks a series of questions. When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives, our answer will automatically be yes, because He is The Answer.
The CDs title is based on the scripture from Matthew 6:22. "The lamp of the body is the eye; therefore, if the eye is good, the whole body will be full of light," she excitedly replies. Explaining the album title, WINDOWS TO THE SOUL, the North Carolina resident gives credit to God alone. He gave me the title and the scripture to explain. "The good eye looks for the will of God and is filled with the presence of God, who is light. The evil eye looks for things of this world that are temporal and passing and is full of darkness." We can live in the world but not be part of it. This is a journey not a destination. We can choose to go along for the ride or we can take a stand and pursue the things of God that He has pre-ordained and pre-destined for each of us, says Krissy.
With love and thanksgiving to God for His saving grace and transforming power, these songs were birthed in Krissy Gordons heart. Krissys lyrics compel people to deep dig within their souls to seek the meaning and purpose of their lives. The message of Krissys music is beautifully communicated as the light of God radiates from her and penetrates into the deepest part of mankinds soul -- compelling them to make a decision that will ultimately affect the outcome of their destiny.
Krissy set the stage for WINDOWS TO THE SOUL on her 2003 CD For the Love of God with the inspirational track "The Prayer," sung with Irish Tenor, John Brennan. Her angelic vocals perfectly complement the minimal musical track of acoustic piano.
Krissy demonstrates her writing skills on WINDOWS TO THE SOUL as Surrender hit No. 1 on the Christian artist unsigned music charts. The Answer was chosen as music that heals for the Hurricane Healing Project and earned Krissy the title of Songwriter of the Month by the Christian Songwriters Network "
In 2004, Krissy and her family moved to Charlotte, NC, where she began singing The National Anthem at local ball games and ministering in the local community to the needy and homeless with Voices in Praise. She studied classical voice at the New England Conservatory and Bridgewater State College, and during her junior year, her professor encouraged her to step out in faith as she was given a gift by God to bless others and glorify Him. One year later, Krissy began singing at weddings and funerals and leading worship at her local church.
Since the release of WINDOWS TO THE SOUL, Krissys songs have been topping the charts in the Funk, Pop, R&B, Funky R&B and Contemporary Christian genres, proving the album's versatility and mass appeal. In January 2008, Krissy gave a memorable national television performance and interview on Charlotte Alive.
As Krissy begins 2012, she looks forward to performing on a tour. She is humbled by the passionate support shes received, beginning at church and continuing with CD sales and fans witnessing her anointed gift in person. She looks forward to using her platform to give back by partnering with humanitarian organizations and demonstrating Gods love to His people.
Krissy continues to soar on her journey, taking the Lord by the hand and following Him as He leads her to new heights, new depths and new horizons. Its exciting to see what the Lord has in store for me next. May my eyes always be opened to see His truth, my ears always open to hear His voice, and may my mouth always profess the love of God, which is in Jesus Christ, our Lord.
